A flattened interlock lets conditioned air escape along the meeting rail. We replace the weatherstripping with a Q-Lon bulb seal that holds its shape longer than the original material. It’s an aftermarket part we’ve tested on dozens of Port St. Lucie ViewLux sliders, and it outperforms the OEM foam in this climate.
- Frame corner gasket failure on ViewLux casement windows. Casements rely on corner gaskets to keep water and air out at the frame joints. On ViewLux casements, we’ve found the corner gaskets shrink and pull away from the frame after six to eight years of Florida exposure. The symptom is a damp sill or a draft near the hinge side. We pull the sash, clean the corner seats, and set new gaskets with a compatible sealant. It’s a small part, but it’s the difference between a window that performs and one that doesn’t.
- Low-E coating degradation on early-run ViewLux double-pane units. Some of the earlier ViewLux energy packages used a soft-coat Low-E that, over a decade of direct Florida sun, can develop a hazy or blotchy appearance. It’s not a cleaning issue. The coating itself is breaking down. When we see this, replacement is usually the honest answer. Repairing a degraded Low-E coating isn’t possible. We’ll quote the replacement glass side by side with a full-window replacement so you can decide with real numbers in front of you.
- Hardware wear on ViewLux tilt-wash double hungs. The tilt-latch mechanisms on ViewLux double hungs are plastic-bodied and take the full weight of the sash every time you clean the window. In salty air near the St. Lucie River, the springs inside the tilt latches corrode and the latch won’t hold. We replace the tilt latches with upgraded hardware that uses stainless internal springs. It’s a quick fix that keeps the window operable and the sash seated tight against the weatherstripping.
