Andersen Window Installation: The Port St. Lucie Owner’s Guide

We install and replace Andersen windows across Port St. Lucie, and the installed price for most full-frame Andersen window installations runs between $850 and $1,900 per opening depending on the series, size, and whether you’re dealing with impact glass. Most single-window installations in Port St. Lucie are completed in one day once the unit arrives in our shop. The call usually starts the same way: a homeowner in Torino or St. Lucie West notices a crank that slips, a sash that won’t seat square in the frame, or condensation that never clears between the panes, and they want to know if it’s the window or the installation. It’s usually one or the other, and both can be fixed.

Here’s the thing about Andersen windows in Florida: they’re good windows. But a good window installed wrong is still a problem. We see Andersen units in Port St. Lucie that failed early not because of the glass, but because the original installer didn’t flash the rough opening correctly, or set the sill out of level, or didn’t account for how much heat and humidity this part of the state throws at a window from March through November. Dale Kessler grew up in the Tradition area and has been fitting and glazing windows across St. Lucie County for the better part of two decades. He’ll tell you the same thing we tell every customer: the window matters, but the install decides whether it lasts.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

We install and service the full Andersen residential line in Port St. Lucie, including the 200 Series, 400 Series, A-Series, E-Series, and the newer Andersen 100 Series. If you have an Andersen window with a silver or white label on the top of the sash or the side of the frame, that label has the serial number and the exact wire glass spec. Read it before you call, or just take a photo of it. That label is the difference between ordering the right replacement sash and ordering a $900 mistake.

Here’s a compatibility fact most homeowners don’t know: a 400 Series sash will not drop into a 200 Series frame even if the visible dimensions are identical. Andersen changed the jamb liner profile between series, and forcing a mismatched sash in cracks the liner and voids the weather seal. We’ve corrected enough of those in Port Saint Lucie and St. Lucie West to stop being surprised by it. For replacements, we prefer genuine Andersen OEM parts when the window is under warranty or when the homeowner wants factory-matched finishes. For out-of-warranty units, we quote quality aftermarket equivalents side by side on paper, including Pella, and PGT options, so you see exactly what you’re paying for and why. TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent installer and not affiliated with Corporation, but we’re an authorized installer for their lines and we know their part numbers as well as anyone in the county.

Signs Your Andersen Window Installation Is Failing

People call us for all kinds of reasons, but these are the five we hear most often in Port St. Lucie, and what they usually mean:

  • Condensation between the panes that never clears. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. In Florida’s humidity, a failed seal shows up faster than anywhere else. The glass itself is fine; the unit needs replacement, not the whole window.
  • The crank handle turns but the sash doesn’t move, or it slips. The operator mechanism or the gear inside is stripped. Andersen crank operators are durable, but salt air near the coast shortens their life. This is a parts replacement, not a full window job.
  • The sash won’t seat square in the frame, or it catches on one side. Either the jamb liner has shifted, the frame has settled, or the original install wasn’t level. If the frame itself is out of square, you can’t fix that with shims behind the liner. That’s an install problem, and it’s exactly the kind of thing our Done Right Promise exists for when we’re the ones doing the work.
  • You can feel air moving around the frame even when the window is locked. Weatherstripping is worn or the sash wasn’t set with proper compression. On older Andersen units in Port St. Lucie, the weatherstripping hardens after 10 to 15 years in the heat and needs replacement.
  • The window is hard to open, or the sash falls shut when you let go. The balance system or the pivot shoe is failing. On double-hung Andersen windows, the balances are calibrated to the sash weight. If someone replaced the sash without replacing the balances, it will never feel right.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed replacement parts for Andersen windows in Port St. Lucie cost less than full window replacements because we’re swapping a component, not tearing out the frame. A new insulated glass unit typically runs $250 to $600 installed. A replacement sash is $400 to $900 installed. Crank operators, balances, weatherstripping, and other hardware typically land between $120 and $350 installed. Full frame window installation, as noted above, runs $850 to $1,900 per opening depending on series and whether you need impact-rated glass.

Service Typical Installed Range
Insulated glass unit replacement $250 - $600
Sash replacement (OEM or equivalent) $400 - $900
Hardware repair (crank, balance, weatherstrip) $120 - $350
Full-frame window installation $850 - $1,900

Those prices include parts, labor, disposal of the old unit, and our written workmanship warranty. No surprise line items on the bill. If the unit is still under Andersen’s warranty, we handle the warranty paperwork and get the replacement ordered. If it’s out of warranty, we give you the same honest line-item quote. We register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and we’ve been doing it since 2008 in this community.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things safely: look for the serial label on the sash, check whether the locks engage fully, and see if the frame is visibly out of level with a bubble level. Those observations help us quote accurately over the phone. What we don’t recommend is pulling the sash out of an Andersen double-hung window. The jamb liners are under spring tension, and they can snap back hard enough to take a finger. Removing an insulated glass unit improperly also voids any remaining warranty, and Andersen is particular about how their stops and glazing beads come out and go back in.

If it’s a crank handle or a visible weatherstrip, a careful owner can sometimes handle that. If it’s a seal failure, a balance issue, or a frame that’s out of square, that’s a job for someone who has done it hundreds of times. Call us at (772) 362-3326 and describe what you’re seeing. A live person answers, 24/7, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a quick fix or a replace-the-sash situation.
